Yes, if I had 50k sitting around I could think of nothing better to do with it than donate it to lying racist (ex-) police. What’s the odds it comes out that one or the other of them were known to their colleagues as “the racist”? Probably not very high actually, it wouldn’t be a distinguishing feature. |

"I'm still more concerned that some are happy to deny her the presumption of innocence." If you're trying to be clever SN, then no. She may be *criminally* presumed innocent, but poltically, there is no such presumption. And in when step down from FM and SNP leader moments before being questioned under caution and only 3 weeks or so after committing to continue on. So yes, there's a good chance she will not be found guilty of embezzlement. But, personally, politically, she's done something extremely dodgy. And we'll find out in due course just how bad. And if it were Boris Johnson and the Tory party having done it, you'd be screaming guilt from the rooftops. So take your blinkers off. This has nothing to do with the merits or not of independence, and everything to do with Nicola sturgeon and the financial leadership of the SNP. The two things can be mutually exclusive. |

Sorry fozzy, but I don't understand that one - if it turns out that the 600K (which in total party funding terms is trivial money) was badly accounted for or used in an inappropriate way, but is not strictly illegal, then surely a finding of not guilty is a finding of not guilty. Not guilty = innocent and their political and moral reputation is then unstained? What am I missing here? Again, remember, even the actual accusation we're talking about here is a fairly marginal technicality of using funds raised for one purpose (campaigning for independence) to run the operations of the party (the party of independence). It still feels at worst like a technical misdemeanour to me. If Sturgeon or her husband took the money and bought jewellery or something, guilty. Deserve every punishment they get, including political disgrace. But if found not guilty on the charge, then what do you mean about "politically guilty"? That harassment of Bianca Williams and her partner is just such blatant racism, it's deplorable. That some people try to defend it is a terrible indictment of some sections of the police and public. And I bet it is harassment and racism that BAME people experience on the streets of London and other cities every day. Just inexplicable in this day and age. |

And when I said I’d never avoid the news, I’ve just opened Twitter. Four of the first 8 links are versions of the same story mostly be accounts I don’t follow, plus a brag by the PM whom I don’t follow, an advert doesn’t don’t follow, and then XC and retro 6 a side football. Who says Musk hasn’t destroyed Twitter?

I suppose this could be part of him laying a foundation for promoting his version of history and a new, glorious Boris Future for when - if - Sunak gets canned. I'm fairly convinced he is convinced that Bozza will one day be called back from his plough like Cincinnatus of old to rescue his nation in its darkest hour. Not sure how broadcasting on a channel whose only viewers are Sid and Doris Bonkers achieves that end but hey, those swimming pools don't build themselves. |
