I'm onboard with a lot of that, BUT then I read from last month, which presumably impacts the above:

theguardian.com

As with child benefit cap, Starmer said it must be removed in 2020 and yet has reversed this by 2023, as soon as his plans get closer to reality, they get scrapped/watered down.

Also as some of the keen-eyed journos reported, it just isn't enough even as a starting point - Guardian from May:

twitter.com

Without invoking fields, but I just don't believe that a lot of what Starmer puts forward he will or can achieve. For instance replacement of the House of Lords with a democratically elected version. When he's already appointing peers:

theguardian.com

As lots of commentators point out, it's going to very hard to achieve. See here:

politico.eu

Its the wrong emphasis. PR would make a much bigger change.

And JB as someone in the Stratford upon Avon constituency, as I assume you are, and I lived for over 20 years, your vote simply doesn't count without PR.

You asked for facts and I gave you detailed policies which you then poopoo. Sounds like you aren't that persuadable. Assuming persuadable is a word.

Whether you are or not it hardly sounds like he hates tree-huggers does it?

It’s no surprise that he hates children when he kills alpacas tbh.

JB we get it, you love the smell of Starmer’s farts - is he your son or something?

His latest comment re services - reform is needed not spending - is just another line from the Tory playbook. Like the tories, he shows nothing but contempt for the public sector.

His backtracking on nationalising utilities, green new deal are awful, he is authoritarian on things like decriminalisation of drugs, and he hasn’t got the balls to tax the wealthy. He doesn’t want to introduce PR which will allow a broader coalition on the left and make peoples vote count - perpetuating the sorry mess we have now.

Frankly there is no point in voting for the (lack of) vision he offers. He won’t change the current broken system.

In terms of members being expelled, here's something today on the North of Tyne Labour mayor quitting the party and looking to stand as an indepedent. twitter.com

And another point raised above, backlash to the two-child policy.

It's not really poo-pooing, it's having concerns on

a) whether they will be delivered
b) whether they go far enough

A few pollsters reckon the constant flipflopping could be an achilles heel for Starmer at the ballot box. As my vote is v unlikely to count and Labour's top management have made it obvious they've no desire to change the voting system, I feel like going elsewhere is a perfectly valid option.

I guarantee the Greens won't be delivering anything over the next 5 years so I'm pretty certain Labour will deliver more than that, whether it's watered down or not.

The Greens will never deliver anything if no one votes for them, it has to start somewhere.

People constituencies that are safe voting for the Green party will get them on the map and possibly encourage others to vote for them in the future.

I find that a rather strange argument - as if it's only numbers which is holding them back when it might be, you know, policies, organisation, electoral appeal and general suitability for power...

About This Thread

Name-calling will be called out, and Ad hominem will be frowned upon. :-) And whatabout-ery sits somewhere above responding to tone and below contradiction.

*** NEW US election PREDICTOR *** Predict:

1) Number of electoral college votes Democrats get
2) Party to win the Senate (Democrat or Republican)
3) Party to win the House (Democrat or Republican)

Do the prediction like this: 312 D D - you win if you get the first number right and no-one else does.
