With that lot I suspect it's a pre electioneering come the GE they can say they were are writing to the PM to address the concerns of the people who's vote they want. They know what they ask for won't happen, they don't care either way they just want to keep their place at the trough. |

I'm sure that's true richmac. It is a massive failure of a manifesto pledge, isn't it? Even if, again, I don't care about that pledge. Hard for Labour to make much hay out of it though, without seeming to support anti-immigration sentiment.

To promise higher care wages and working conditions in care, most of which is funded by local authorities, would require an enormous investment. Very worthwhile, but very expensive.

It's not about achievements or competence or solving problems, it's just about keeping the issue in the headlines. Immigration! Must Vote Conservative!

It should happen though. Central government can ringfence extra funding for it if they want to. Agree social care is a big expense though. The previous care cap plans would have made it even more expensive for the state which is why people don't expect it to come back. Of course when Theresa May wanted to increase how much some pay towards their care, it ended up being very costly for her.

Just seen the Cabinet Office "inquiry" into Sue Gray has concluded a "prima facie" breach of the Code. I'm guessing "prima facie" on the basis that SG refused to engage with something which did look and feel much more like a kangaroo court than other recent investigations. Cue the various RW papers and commentating conveniently ignoring the Acoba stuff... |

Perhaps you could back up your assertion with a link - please apply by the fozzy golden standard of providing a source Not an assertion - a question so no source needed Do you think it's ok for British working class people to be racist and do you measure them by the same standards as the (allegedly) racist EU officials you bemoan? You can probably see where I'm going here.. |

I approve. bbc.co.uk (Greens attending anti-monarchy rally instead of Charles's celebration in Scotland). Principles, innit? G |
