In fact, Brexit gets mentioned 21 times. "Total trade flows in 2021 were broadly in line with our October forecast albeit with some volatility. In the fourth quarter of 2021, exports and imports were respectively still 13 and 12 per cent below their 2019 averages, lagging behind the domestic economic recovery. The recovery in UK trade has also been slow relative to advanced economies as total advanced economy goods exports already exceed pre-pandemic levels by 3 per cent, suggesting that Brexit may have been a factor. Our forecast continues to assume that leaving the EU will result in the UK’s total imports and exports being 15 per cent lower than had the UK remained a Member State (see Box 2.6 for the latest evidence). This fall in the trade intensity of UK output is likely to reduce the level of potential productivity, though the size of this effect is uncertain; we assume productivity is ultimately 4 per cent lower after a 15-year period. None of the new free-trade agreements (FTAs) or other regulatory changes announced so far would be sufficient to have a material impact on our forecast and, as our forecast is conditioned on current Government policy (including trade agreements), this does not take account of any future FTAs that the UK might conclude, or other deregulatory measures it might enact." |

Had the Parliament channel on briefly, some Tory screaming about Lefty lawyers & get 250 on a plane. Crushing that so many people have failed at basic humanity.

I'm surprised the judge on Friday didn't rule the policy was illegal. But I guess they need to be very careful about judiciary ruling on policy. There was a general finding that their materials (letters and PDF info sheets) to the deportees saying "in line with UNHCR..." and "developed with UNHCR..." were incorrect, as the lawyer for the UNHCR explained! May well be legal, but it's immoral and will be totally ineffective. Playing to the minority racists in the country, imho. It will probably win them 10% more votes at GE though. |

Sounds like only 8 people will be on the flight. Even setting aside the abhorrent humanitarian side that is an appalling waste of money.

Just read that. The poor sods who have to do Patel's bidding, it's not much but what else can they do? The sheer fuckery of this government. Can't get people to pick crops but are happy to send 8 very motivated individuals to Rwanda, where the government says they can build new lives, er... |

Supposedly only 1 left on the flight. Oh to be Priti Patel herself.
