I hadn't realised that posh shaming is now unacceptable. There's not much left for satire then. Where is the line between a funny quip and a cruel joke?

Just to be clear: I was in no way posh shaming. I was misogynistic homophobic liar shaming. |

Jen J surely you’re not referring to that fine upstanding Christian man? 😀

Is he Christian (Catholic specifically, it carries more points)? Oh, didn't realise. He really should mention it more... 😂 |

He kinda displays all the opposite characteristics to what I expect of someone with some “Christian” morals tbf. He should maybe stop & think, what would Jesus do? |

Honestly, I don't mind fat shaming or posh shaming of adults. JRM deserves all the satire and meme generation the world can throw at him; I'm only just mildly uncomfortable about his kid being part of that as he's not asked to be in the public eye in the same way that his dad has. |

But his dad chooses to parade his child around so if it some sort of anti pap human shield? JRM is doing rather well in this century and couldn't give a flying fig about modernising his attitude. Why would he when he's able to influence a roll back to the sort of times his attitude (and wealth) is rooted in. |

I don't think it's about posh shaming at all, it's about the self-conscious idiocy of the whole image. It is a character he is playing.

larkin, I'm sorry, my hatred for him made me not even register that there was someone else in the photo, and even when I first read your post (that I replied to!) I still didn't register it. In my defence, but still not a reasonable excuse, I was working at the time and only half paying attention to my phone. I agree that having a child on a meme picture is a little unfair, and I'll try and pay more attention to avoid sharing such in future. On a similar note, I detest when the media mock the number of children that Mr Johnson has. I don't think anyone detests Mr Johnson more than I do (plenty probably detest him just as much as me though), but none of that is anything to do with his children. Just imagine if your father had a few children with different mothers, and the media were always joking about how many of you and your siblings there were. Your existence as a human being would be relegated to a cheap joke for the national press. It's disgraceful. Sorry, not sure where all that came from. I knew I shouldn't ever have opened a thread called 'Politics'... 😂 |
