I do realise that HT, and I know the two lists will never come together, so long as we all have complete faith that whoever is in charge will not allow the lists to come together.

as a bridge player, the slow and cruel dismantling is sometimes more satisfying than the quick win. and boy oh boy is that true here. the tears and snotters have been a joy. weetabixheed will be dragged out of there kicking, screaming, and flailing in every direction, but he's going. if this is the first step towards reversing the trend of authoritarian dogmatic strong headed leaders with a penchant for reading the ladybird book of fascism from the political discourse, then just maybe 2020 isn't a total write off. it won't save the UK from the short term pain of b****t, but i feel a strange sense of joy just now, just like the one you get after an hour of non stop vomiting...... |

I think it's more like the feeling you get after a really big dump. All the poison is out of your system and you feel cleansed.

Over-sharing there, but you all know what I mean and don't say you don't.

You had a slightly dodgy curry last night, we're in mile 19 of a tough 20-miler, it's been brewing since just after you passed the public bogs an hour and a half ago. Just got to make it back through the door... And think of the blessed relief when you do... |

That issue with the state legislatures appointing the electors can happen in some states, subject to their existing laws allowing it to happen. But would it really transpire? Surely no matter what the loyalty to the GOP, state legislators wouldn't want to face their population and say "we know 2.5m of you voted this way, but we're ignoring you". I can see some merit in them adopting a more proportional approach to the nomination of electors ("we've got 11 to send, so we're sending 6 for Biden, 5 for Trump to reflect the narrow outcome of the vote") but they won't do that either as that doesn't actually achieve anyone's goal. |

And just now - come across one report via Lewis Goodall's twitter feed "A Republican official in Pennsylvanian states that Republican count observers have had access to the counts the entire time." and it seems Republicans are urging their supporters to commit mass fraud: salon.com Look throughout this campaign, I have always refrained from implying the intelligence of Trump supporters is lower than average, but the above is a) plainly stupid and b) clearly he is assuming his supporters are idiots who will blindly follow every dictate of his. |

Alaska has started coming vaguely into play in the betting markets (10/1 on the Dems if you fancy it - I wouldn't) , but before that it was 100/1.
