Sajid Javid speech. Like being savaged by a dead sheep. Johnson's response to the floods. Pathetic. Hiding away rather than face the music.
Theresa May was an appalling Home Sec, and an absolutely terrible P.M. But at least she tried, and did what she did out of a sense of duty. Johnson, on the other hand. Lazy, useless, and does everything out of a posh boys sense of entitlement. Already being found out for what he is.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

I’d love to know where all these xenophobic pensioners who voted Leave are. All the pensioners I’ve met/know voted remain. On the other hand I’ve met a lot of white middle class men who voted Leave.

Same here actually but I don't believe the statistics lie. Probably a large part of the answer is that xenophobic pensioners don't get out much, at least at the times and places that I do (though being semi-retired in a small town I'd expect to bump into just about anyone who wasn't house-bound).
And of course even a ratio of 3:1 in any given demographic still leaves a lot of people in the smaller fraction. It is by no means the case that all pensioners are xenophobic.

Quite a lot of them are in Spain, as it happens. Which is nice for them.

I know a lot of people in all age groups who voted leave, but that's very much a virtue of where I live.
I also know more white middle-aged white men who voted remain than leave, but that's because I am one and my social circle has been honed over time to include people who are similar to me - with whom I can have a conversation about important issues without feeling the need to justify myself.
It'll lead to a sort of subconscious bias, I imagine, and is why politics is so very polarised at the moment. Because we seem to tend to surround ourselves with people who think like us, don't have to have our views validated, and actually have to seek out any opposing discussion.
But then, I find myself in a group of 4x4 enthusiasts, or hunters, or fans of Grimsby Town, which I'm not, and get hounded out and called all the names under the sun.
So, I don't engage in discussion of any political matter with anyone once it's obvious that they have a different view to me, and the whole thing goes round, and we never get the opportunity to challenge our own views...

Pretty close to the actual outcome then. A fair representation. That's how it should be.

I seem to remember getting flamed on here for my (I thought) innocent comment that whatever happened in the election half the country would be completely pissed off. 😁

I've still yet to meet someone who has told me they voted leave. I must have a very narrow circle of acquaintances!
