Sigh. Here I am with Olympic level knitting skills honed over almost 60 years and neither of my girls are looking at all likely to produce any grandchildren for me to swathe in hand-crafted knitwear.
I do have two great-nieces though, one a brand new arrival last Saturday, so there is that.

Exactly why it’s the ‘best club’ - all the joy and pass them back with little responsibility in between. I also find sadly I have more time with grandson as I did with son because of work and home life. My son says to Alfie “I never got away with XYZ when I little but you are”. I no longer care if I have finger prints over the glass table etc as it can be cleaned when he’s left. Maybe it’s not everyone’s outlook but it’s mine.

This is the argument that says the best pet in the world is somebody else’s dog?

Oddly, no, Greg. The relationship with a dog (other pets too I imagine) can't really be compared with the relationship with another human. IMO, anyway.

It's certainly going to be more of a challenge to train your grandkid to shit on the lawn.
