Well you know how everyone thinks that only the 50+ age group goes to church?

It's actually the other way round :-)

Runningfoxx
If you'd been ru‌nning for only 18 months and never won anything in your life, so you nervously went to Church one Sunday morning to pray for strength to run a marathon you'd foolishly entered with 2,000 ft of ascent, aged 55, uncoached, with little training, on the hottest day of the year, and finished up winning your age category in 3:30 - would you just put it down to coincidence, or luck, or feeling good on the day?

I couldn't. I went home, fell on my knees and thanked God for a wonderful gift, a gift that enabled me to continue running and winning races on roads, track and fells over all distances from 100m to marathon, many of them in world class times, right into my 80's. It was more than coincidence, more than luck, more than me.

I think, in answer to Stander... no, not normally. But Fetch is ... ahem... a broad church ;-)

It's actually unusual for the thread to stick to one topic for this long...

Or natural ability Runningfoxx? Well done and good for you and glad you're happy and well and all that. But yes, coincidence, natural ability untapped, luck on the day. But not bloke in the sky, nope, sorry. But anyway... this isn't the HappyG doesn't believe in God thread, so I'd probably just better shut up! Lots o love, :-) G

I did put my name in the Prayer Book in St Olaf's church in Wasdale several years back ... I was hoping for strength to sustain me on my impending Bob Graham Round :-)

I've been waiting for the subject to be changed for ages...not a church goer ;-)

Diogenes
I don’t think I ever believed, but I do enjoy singing a good hymn.

My wife goes to church (well, Quakers, which is somewhat different). I find a Sunday morning run serves a similar purpose, minus the coffee and biscuits. But I get them at home afterwards.
