Haw you, Fetch! I am not an old person! These people in your picture would have been born in the thirties or forties.*

*Which is some of the over-fifties here, but not that many.

Maybe "someone" should post a photo of what triathletes wore in days gone by?

Nice work Lord Fetch.

Something tells me you may regret ever mentioning an old codger's "league table."

Aren't the runners in the new pic the same people as those in the old pic, just a bit older and wiser?

I am too young to remember decimalisation. Just

But, way back then my Grandfather was a corner shop owner. His last shop was scandalously compulsory purchased by Edinburgh Council for way under market value, along with 3 flats in the same block for which he received £1 each as he was renting them and not living there.

The brewery for whom the Compulsory Purchase was carried out never did expand and guess what, its now a new build Sainsbury's Local with new student flats.

Anyway, back on topic, when I was a lad there was a stash of plastic credit card decimal conversion cards with my Grandad's shop logo on them which my brother and I had. I wish I still had at least one now.

Off on another tangent my brother once put one of these plastic cards on the bulb in his bedside lamp to see what would happen. I heard some noise and went to his room to see him beating the inevitable fire out with a juice bottle. Some of his favourite bears were burned beyond repair.

Those were the days

I remember decimalisation. All that trouble we'd gone to, learning the 12x table, and then suddenly we didn't need it as there were no longer 12 pennies to the shilling.

I remember (just) the credit card style conversion tables given out in the shops
