It was very windy one year. I remember turning the corner to go back to the finish and being hit by a wall of wind so strong it blew me backwards for a few steps.

I just read your blog! I had another windy half in Blackpool - in 2012 I think. I ran with Smileybob and he very gallantly ran in front of me to shield me. I got a PB thanks to him and won my age cat. I miss SB!

I still use that Freckleton Half umbrella too JK, it was very much appreciated supporting at Ironman UK a month ago!

Cheshire Half
Liverpool Half
Congelton Half
Rochdale Half
Macclesfield Half
Southport Half

And if you are considering as far as York/Windermere, then there's also Lancaster, Leeds, Sheffield, etc

There should also be the Oldham Half in October. Not on this year but guess it'll be back in 2022...

THere's also the Conwy half up the Great Orme if you're prepared to travel to Lladudno area. Great race, and surprisingly my PB course!
