Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I wanted to be a vet but didn’t take the right exams!

Careers advice was fill in this multi choice questionaire (like a lottery ticket) and we’ll send it off for a magic computer to tell you your fait.

It suggested forensic science

I was all set to apply for a biochemistry degre and at the last minute just before ucca form time I decided I wanted to something else. I've had a lovely career and it was the right decision.

Strangely though Mr LF was all set to apply for chemistry degree at the same uni which would have put us on overlapping courses and in some of the same lectures. He flunked his a levels and took a different path so neither of us went. We met 10 years later online.

First pass of DLA form done. We have a list of all the stuff we need to ask the social worker to help with.

I went to uni to do a zoology degree (same as my father, who was top student in the same dept), failed first year zoology so ended up doing a geography degree, having not done geography at school. I did mental health nursing after my degree

We had a weird lesson at school taught by the headmistress which included ‘interesting facts about our school building’ like that the original owner had had a secret staircase built so no one could look up his daughter’s skirts from below as they went upstairs.

My dad was a miner my mam worked part time in various shops. My auntie was the clever one went to uni and worked as a civil servant. I wanted to be a vet but left school as the miners strike finished and no way my parents could have afforded me to go. As it happens I suffered a lot of health problems and I doubt I’d have made it through uni.

I always had an interest in law and finally did legal qualifications many years later.

110% I will and do help anyone that needs help - I helped her daughter so a CV for a Saturday job and she got the first one applied for so they think it’s easier for me to do it.

Also agree with not doing it for him. My issue here is my cousin & husband are professionals & both could sell ice to an Eskimo, which let’s face it a CV/personals statement is. Add in she’s off work this week but is going away to her caravan for a few days, son is staying at home with stepdad as he doesn’t want to go & she’s out today & sending him round this afternoon. It’s easier to give me the task than stay in/home and do it with him.

I’ve told him to come with all his notes I’ve told him what I need and I’ll help him write it. I’ve done what I think I can based on what I know but that won’t be the starting point.

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
