Although it's nearly time to turn it off, isn't it? Better to do the repair now than leave it until it gets cold again and you have no heating at all.

This follows a very cold October when my housemate/landlady discovered our boiler problem at the start of a rather cold October. The heating engineer who turned up nearly 3 weeks later at his next available appointment suggested it as a tip.
