Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I have not done any work so far today.

But I have had a discussion on the family WhatsApp about which Jane Austen heroine is the most annoying (Emma, obvs), and one with my friend Helen about how tall Steven Merchant is.

I like the politics thread. It appeals to my angry side.

I think Fanny Price is also pretty bloody annoying, tbh.

(Although the bit about her as a child and how she always calls the Isle of Wight ‘The Island’ makes me laugh. Because that’s still what we’re calling it :-) )

I was also thinking Fanny Price. Emma would be far down my list.

Once briefly lurked on (or lurched into?) the politics thread. Decided No. Lurked/lurched out again.

The politics thread is like a pub argument. You can stick your nose in for the entertainment, you can join in if you want a bloody nose, or you can shrug your shoulders and let people get on with it.

I have replaced the batteries in the TV remote.

The old ones were flat, so it wasn't working.
