I could only come up with Crimson Speckled, Hebrew Character and Holly Blue (but these are distintive looking caterpillars). Are there more in the UK?

These (in my garden) look exactly like the caterpillars which have infested my nasturtiums and cabbage-related items in the past (I have non of either in my garden at present), so I assumed they were cabbage white caterpillars. I don't think they're sawfly larvae. Not gooseberry sawfly, anyway. |

having never tried to grow strawberries I suddenly want to! I'm at the garden center on Sunday - am I too late? Is there anything to consider or must buys? we now have planted lettuce radish spinach beans courgette onions carrots I'm thinking of getting one of those mini greenhouses (a £300 job) that stands against the wall for next season with the hope of trying tomatoes and pepers again and cucumbers for the first time |

We have a little greenhouse thing, it was £40, it's just a plastic cover. Seems to be ok, no space for a proper one. We are doing our tomatoes in the conservatory, NE Scotland isn't warm enough for them outside. We have flowers and some small ones forming already. Courgettes forming on the plants too. I am fed up of the ivy so decided to try the vinegar, only did it today so will see what happens. It is secured by bungy cords to a wall. |

Vinegar gets rid of ivy? What sort of vinegar and how do you apply it?

“Some use white vinegar as an alternative to herbicides for English ivy removal. Put the vinegar in a sprayer or spray bottle, and lather the vine thoroughly—making sure not to squirt any nearby vegetation. Wait roughly a week or so, and check treated areas for dead/dying ivy.“

I just bought white vinegar from the supermarket and sprayed it on the ivy. Might do nothing but will see.

I will let you know how it goes. I only did a little bit to see and will do more if it works.
