Mice can get through the smallest of gaps, of course. Surprised they didn't go for the beans though if that's the case - much better eating for less effort!

That was how I found out. Before I just thought things weren't germinating for some reason but by studying the soil I found microscopic stumps. Small enough to have disappeared by mid morning with a bit of sun.

Rosehip Jun 2020 8:05pm, 1 Jun 2020 16,342 posts	0 Rosehip Lovely I had a huge green salad from the garden at lunchtime and picked another 6 strawberries. Since strawberries are at their best straight from the plant and still warm from the sun, I'm not sure how I'm going to get a bowl full.
