Wriggling Snake
I think they were strawberries 2 and 3 of the first 4, two disappeared before I could take the picture.

[Inadvertently hits submit!]

We have had sparrows in our greenhouse early in the morning helping themselves to seedlings.

EY, I do (shut the door)!

Damping off sounds possible, but in that case where have the seedling "gone"?
Still a bit of a mystery!

I may set a couple of traps. Pretty sure it's not rats - not enough room to get in between the slab base and the metal frame. Mice can get through the smallest of gaps, of course.

Surprised they didn't go for the beans though if that's the case - much better eating for less effort!

Slugs... I caught them in the act one morning! Inthe evening I watered a satisfactory row of seedlings, the next morning: gone! That was how I found out. Before I just thought things weren't germinating for some reason but by studying the soil I found microscopic stumps. Small enough to have disappeared by mid morning with a bit of sun.

I had food before watering tonight: globe artichoke, salad with walnut and ricotta, sweet potato fries, strawberries with set Greek yoghurt. All but the dairy from the garden!

Now I need to drum up the courage to water! I am watering half the garden/pots/greenhouse every other day now, as more and more veg gets planted the task gets bigger! 4 hours is just too much!

Lovely :)

I had a huge green salad from the garden at lunchtime and picked another 6 strawberries.
Since strawberries are at their best straight from the plant and still warm from the sun, I'm not sure how I'm going to get a bowl full.
