Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

And no, I haven't got a watering system. I thought about one for the tomatoes, but the tap is just too far away to make anything work: no pressure! Also, I use bulk tanks as water butts and that watering has to be done with watering cans. I have watered my translocated hedge with the hose every evening. Because of its shape and me not wanting to water the tarmac/concrete/gravel drive and parking, I have to do it myself holding the sprayer, making sure all water goes to the base of the hedge and nowhere else!

Lots of rain here.

Am I the only gardener who absolutely never has a garden fire? Am I missing out on something?

Dad used to do lots of bonfires when I was growing up. I can see it would be useful to burn some of my allotment stuff (prunings mainly) but can’t do it!

Very little rain in London so far but looking forward to better conditions for working on the plot.

I mix the bonfire ashes with the compost from the bins once a year and spread it on my veg beds. There is going to be a LOT of ash this year :-o It has already reached winter height! I may need to do something else with it at some point!

When i came back from my bike ride at 9:45, it was still bright and clear so i did some transplanting and then some watering. Light starting to get dim as i finished after half ten.

Some rain here, yesterday evening into today. 13mm recorded by local monitoring station. ⅔ of the way to April's total already.
