Sounds as though the fox is in cahoots with your local slugs. Moving the copper collars for them.

My strawberries haven't made it beyond my allotment - there aren't many of them (first year growing them) so I nab them there and then. Just SOOO much better than supermarket ones!

Foxes eat slugs, so maybe the fox has a cunning plan to fatten them up first?

Ha! Much as I resent his destruction of my stuff, I hope I can find a way to live with him.
I have no such regard for molluscs and will be taking a beer trap then next time I go (probably another watering trip tonight, at least it gets a few bike miles in my legs).

Looking at the long term weather forecast this morning - it looks like I've picked the wrong year to restart my veg patches. Watering is going to be a frequent job, by the looks of things.

A mostly good gardening weekend had.
More tomatoes potted on to their final homes (from my second sowing). Cherry type.
Alicia Craig in about a week or so, I reckon.
Cucumbers in growbag.
My "mystery plant bundle" finally arrived (it was cheap-ish because I bought lots of bedding plugs) - 6 fuschias, two of each type. Trailing, small shrub, large shrub!
Potted out yet more of the geraniums and petunias. Getting near the end of the 200+ plugs! (I happen to know there's a large planter with my name on it for a birthday present later this month "hidden" in the furniture shed, so I'm keeping some back.)
I now have 13 of 16 French Beans germinated properly, so much happier about that!
And oddly... The number of lettuce seedlings (at the minuscule 2 leaf stage) in seed trays has diminished. There were about half a dozen on Friday, but by last night it was down to 2. And the same has happened to some mesembryanthemum (purple daisy sort of flowers!) which had just sprouted. So the question is.... what has removed/eaten them?
The only wildlife I've seen anywhere in the greenhouse are a couple of ants. The plant trays are up on wire racks shelves on staging, so not easy or obvious for any vermin anyway, and the soil is undisturbed.
