Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've started on a vegetable garden extension, posts are in just the wire to dig into the ground to keep the rabbits out. I've brought some seeds, bit too early here for much else.

I’ve sowed cosmos, aubergine, tomato and peppers in my heated propagator in the greenhouse.

Think I might be a bit early as the greenhouse is unheated so the seedlings will be a bit chilly when they come out.

I have plenty of seeds spare though to try again in a few weeks . . .

No greenhouse here, heated or otherwise. Preparing an area for some fruit bushes.

I've spent £5 on a riddler to try to separate the stones from the soil in the front garden. There isn't much soil - it's pretty much flint chuckies on top of builder's rubble.

V'rap, could you build beds on top instead?

I need to start planning what to grow soon...and hopefully I won't kill too much this year with my black thumb!;)

I've built a couple of beds on top of it, Lizzie, and will plant them up when the bulbs I buried in the autumn have died back. But I plan to make a rough path with the stones, and plant lazy ground cover on the remaining soil.

I'm in favour of ground cover. I have got rid of my front lawn completely (don't have to mow it) and am in process of turning the garden into stepping-stones and ground cover. Doing this via long-term weed suppressant.

I really need to sort our garden this year, and I even failed with my tomatoes (the seeds in the packet ended up being a completely different variety!). Love those pics Hanneke, I may get one of our cats to follow you on instagram!

Noticed some sick-looking branches on one of the apple trees. Will need to take the pruning saw to it tomorrow.
