Big mileage that SQ. Seems a nice varied week, and plenty going on for you racing wise. Smashed a couple of blog entries together for the Murder Mile and Aberbeeg parkrun. Best MM first then Aberbeeg fetcheveryone.com/blog/59834 |

That’s @macca territory, @jools. Enjoyed both blogs, @sg. Had a look at that hotel; you really do have to pay for absolutely every ‘extra’! Good double outing combo. How tired did you feel post MM? Without smashing a downhill, the quads at least shouldn’t have been too bad. Sore calves? 5M recovery yesterday late morning following junior parkrun with the boy. I think he enjoyed it on balance. Second BAC session this morning. 12 mins threshold > 5 x 2 mins 5k effort > 12 mins threshold. All off two min jogs. 6:30s for the longer and 6:05 for the shorter reps. I swear the watch was showing faster! 10.5M at 7:01 in total so a decent workout and gives an extra day recovery before Wednesday’s long run va last week. |

@Sorequads Reasonably fresh body wise, just tiring after the drive etc. Could feel 2 spots in the sort of back of hip/glute after the parkrun through, so enough to show I'd had a decent splash at both! Those premier zips can be incredible value, but always a lottery. Take end of Sep - Cardiff aren't even playing at home the next day, yet a Friday night then is for some reason £45! When they always start at £19. Nice run out for you today. |

Decent race blogs @stevieg power walk though? Surely it's not Coombe Hill 5 level steep Looks a great event though @Sorequads I have seen the famous Marathon talk shed when we popped round to Lizzie's house - really close to my brother's place, the missus has known Lizzie since they were kids at Bedford. Decent weekend Saturday - Half a hill session with Ollie (He is genuinely better at hills than I am), then the local Rushmere Parkrun (1st in 19.23). Then off to Wrest Pk and it was 5 x 1200 off 80 this week. Quite breezy but managed 4.03/3.53/3.49/3.48/3.45. Then bus to watch the NAL at Bedford Sunday - 12.5 with the Caldecott lake mob in MK. 7.3 this morning. |

Coombe Hill 🤣 That's a fell race alright but staggered over a much longer race. Clearly at least the MM is on smooth road. That Llanthony fell race was power walking about 200metres in and a 16xx first mile with 1000 feet climbing on all sorts of gub! |

I tried a slow run but stepped on a funny bit of ground and had to stop and go again! |

16x200m off 90secs this morn. It was the next sesh in order of the 5k plan anyway, but suited today. Nice short reps after the weekend race double, with Thursday being the Dashers pairs relay 5x1km race. 1x36xx to start, then basically 2x34xx and the rest, 13x35xx Clear 35xx average. Have done this session in the 34xx average before, but can't really knock 1 second difference. Nice busy spell of getting the race stats up. A couple of decent fast course 5ks this month, the relay Thursday, and a more fun version of a relay early Sep. A couple of other potentials in the pipeline too, before at some point Sep ish reintroducing the tempo with a view to a couple of cracks at 5m-7m later in the year |

Breezy and slightly wheezy 8x 800 along the golf club road & pavements. Felt ropey at the start, 2.42 on the slightly more awkward 'even' rep. Managed to get them down to 2.30 then a few below 2.30, so not too bad. Very hard 5.8 miles this morning. |

Going back a bit... SG - 5 x 400m @ 800 pace is a toughy. I seem to remember Brendan Foster's early season training including 3 x 600m @ 800 pace, plus 3 x 1km @ 1500m pace. Good racing from you; you seem to be back in a groove. Foppotee - when I ran my pb I lost a few kg quite quite quickly by swapping a few rounds of toast at nighttime for an ale. Gives an idea of quite how calorie dense some basic foodstuffs, as you've said. Good point on the weight-training/calorie-burn. I need to get more consistent with that. Good to see you ticking over. Will you target any races in the autumn? LBAC_Si - good racing there. And some good training paces. How's your sleep now? SQ - if you've not already bought an Abo place I should really sell mine to avoid temptation..... Good 400s! And good BAC session too. Jools - that's considerable weight loss!! PMJ - good progress on the mileage front. I'm hoping to slowly start to build mine back towards previous levels too. Not much to report here (as always, lately). I've gone 1 run for 7 miles, 3 for 22m, and then 4 for 29m last week. Expecting/hoping to get 5 days/40m+ this week. New meds are making a significant difference so far so just hoping they continue in that vein and don't taper out and cause issues like the others did. |
