The Bus
One thing if they would walk their dogs round the edge I guess, but why lane 1??? TT - that sounds deeply unpleasant - impressive you actually got round the HM! SG - I think we might deserve a share of this mysterious prize now! SQ - had to read that twice - thought you said it was good to see the heroin along the canal! PMJ - similar weekly mileage to me - I've averaged 18Mpw this year so far, though I did manage a hilly 8.6 yesterday, which is moving in the right direction. |

Prize geezer never got back to me and it is a challenge to remain interested enough to pursue it i'll be honest! Had today off work, so a single 9.5miler for me. Threw a few hills in, which in one of those so humid you can feel it'll start raining soon scenarios felt plenty indeed. Did some last delves into the results compilation yesterday, and cleared 2 of the 4 TBCs up. Quite the challenge even with photographs, Unfortunately the finish line photographer stopped when it rained, the 7k pics are hard to follow as it's surprising how big a margin there can be between 2 people neck and neck at that stage. And not to mention the helpful racers who either didn't wear a number, had a pin missing so the number didn't display, or even worse those chimpola who wear it on their thigh. Extra dibs to the guy who combined that and a too long t-shirt, maximising the difficulty for organisers :-D Chip timing is pretty expensive, so we make best do |

Bus - fingers crossed - another thread race with you involved would be good - you'd definitely be in the pot hunt terrain if you got back fully. SC - Sorry to hear - whilst it's always a fear of mine - setting off for a race and not making it - it's only actually happened on two occasions for me. Some 5miler in Didcot on my birthday years back - ended up doing a 5miler round some housing estate solo (!) A Datchet XC, that actually cost me one of the club shields for the XC season in Marlow days. In 4 years I won 11 of their 12 shields and still curse that one - literally just had to get round to win it, after being first home in 5 other events. Missed one - and didn't even get top 3 - brilliant! |

The amount of near misses though - yikes...once turning up at the Murder Mile 10mins before the off - having written it off in my head. Ditched the car on a hill, got changed, and actually picked my race number up AFTER the race - having utterly no chance of driving up a 700 feet mile hill then back down with 100s of people involved. Numerous other close ones, Battersea Park with Bossman Pete a few years ago too on an absolute moonson of a drive..wow that was a dreadful drive, yet brilliantly drive actual race oddly. |

ps welcome @SPR and good to see you on a forum again @Curly45 - feels like another lifetime I gave you that lift after the Cabbage Patch 10. Literally the week after that I did the GSR with @alanthebutcher , which I was reminded of today by finding a post it with his old address on and a carpark in Portsmouth that we'd designated as a better option that the massive Southsea common. @ good fairly comfy podium on your ramp back up. |
