We went to Box Hill on Sunday and staggered up and down the steepest hill I have EVER seen. And I've run fell races.
Some bits of it were lovely and flat. It was the stairs wot got me. yep - there are stairs. Ouch.
But there was ice-cream afterwards. So that was OK. Not sure if there will be ice-cream at 7.30 in the evening when I've finished doing this for real. There had better be. Or beer.

I remember the stairs. They're not ideal for developing any sort of rhythm.

Thing is, I've done stairs climbing up Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia - and I did it at a snails pace - so I am just going to adopt the same principle...
More importantly I am going to have LOADS of fun!!! I'm going to take as long as I damn well please to finish this!! I can't wait to see you all

Alas, I would struggle to finish the Malvern Midsummer Marathon and be there in time for the start. But thanks, Treacle
It's my PW-course. I have almost done marathons in the length of time I took over the Midsummer Munro.

After 2 weeks break in focussed ttaining I hit the gym today for this.
30mins on the stepper followed by treadmill running 4 x 5 mins intervals alternating between 10% and 15% absolute killer but having seen box hill recently I am also in the frame of mind as Boo. Start, enjoy, Finish. Time is irrelevant.
