Chris, the idea is to start at 3 sets of 1 pushup and increase by one each day, so 3 x 2 tomorrow etc. It's up to you how you use it though...if you don't want to start at 3 x 1 nobody can force you :-). Your 20, 15, 22 wouldn't count as anything though. You have to complete the three sets of the same number of reps within a single session. If you don't want to start at 3 x 1 you might want to think about starting somewhere around 3 x 18?
