The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
Marathon du Yorkshire - there will Yorkshire Beer, Yorkshire Pork Pies, Yorkshire Crisps - oh and the small business of running 26.2 miles through God's own county.
It had all the makings of a great day out - will be back next year and this time I will do better. At least I got out of the carpark and onto proper moor (only just!) before I fell over!
Well, I'm sat here at work in my shorts & Crocs, letting some air to my legs & feet to aid recovery!
Well done to everyone who did the events yesterday, to be honest I was looking out for someone to introduce myself to but the only Fetch vest I saw was on a lass who looked like she may have been walking the marathon route (I didn't there were any walkers?), & I ran past her going along the muddy track next to Ogden resevoir, i did apologize for splashing if it was you, but you may not have heard me
I then talked to another Fetchie who I just spotted by his buff, but that was after the event walking down into the carpark, he'd just done the half. Other than that, sorry chaps, you weren't obvious enough!
That was a tough race, the only redeeming thing was that I had half an idea what was coming up after the recce, but I'm still not sure whether that was a good or bad thing!
It got a warm at times but at least the legs were cooled down splashing through the bogs over Rocking stone flats!
I went through a bad spell at about 18 miles going up Dolphin Lane, but forced a couple of Twix's & some drink down & did feel a little better.
I managed to get to the end in 4.01 which I'm well happy with, since I was aiming for about 4.20. The bugger of it is if I'd paid attention to my watch (I was too busy feeling sorry for myself!) I may have noticed the time & got sub 4. Oh well, next year maybe
The TT Landlord in the Fleece helped bring me round anyway.
Well done to all who finished, & a big thanks to all marshalls for standing about in good humour - hope the Rascals went down well!
Hi Chromey was nice to meet you. Didn't make it further than a mile before I fell over and hurt my knee (full rambly ranty saga in my blog!) so hardly started before I was heading to casualty! No break but one knee three times the size of the other!
Minnie – poor you, I reckon the marshalls should definitely have reported it, and I hope it’s nothing too serious. Pretty much all the marshalls we went past on the full were great, so don’t let it put you off for next year. Alfa – there were a couple of walkers, but the ones we saw weren’t wearing fetch tops. Some of the bus were fetched up, but doing that sort of time you would have been a long way ahead of us! I can’t get youtube from work or on my phone so will have to wait til I get home to watch the video.
Come and help a few of us celebrate significant birthdays ... there will be beer ... there will be pork pies .... and to get you in the mood watch this
