It's certainly my no.1 priority (and concern!)

Pacers schedule here. manchestermarathon.co.uk Wonder if they really mean 7:20 for the 3:15 group? |

Interesting... the others are pretty exact (on paper - I'm sure in practice not-so), but 7.20mm is faster than 3.15. I think 3.15 is 7.27mm if they want to be as precise as the other bandings... I'll be doing my own thing though in any case - partly as I'm not going for one of those times, partly as I prefer to run my own race |

In 2014 I ran with the 3:15 group for 5k until I got cramp and dropped out; the average pace (I remember it being faster so I've looked at my log to double check) for those first few miles was 3:15. More like 3'10 pace.

A pacer doing 7:20 religiously for the first 2-3 miles would be a good thing for me to bounce off actually, if I'm really intending on a nicely split 3:10:00; help me avoid a 6:50 first mile through enthusiasm! Am I understanding the logic of the start process properly here, from the event guide. It says:- Please arrive 30 minutes before entering the start process if using bag drop Then gives a time for "access to start process" as well as a start time. So for Red B this is 8:30-8:40 "access to start process" for a 9:25 start. Does this mean I need to get rid of my bag at 8:00am (by arriving 30 minutes before), and then at 8:30-:40 I need to go through the process to then spend 45 minutes without my "stuff"? So I'll need to carry anything in to that start area that I want to have in that time (e.g. last minute banana, last minute beetroot juice!). Or does the "access to start process" include the bag drop process? And what happens if I don't get through in the 8:30-:40 time slot? I'm in my usual over-thinking mode at the moment, sorry! |

Ta Nelly. I need to rethink my timings, gonna be a very early start indeed! 7:00am latest to leave the house, 7:30 at Altrincham tram, 8:00am arrival at bag drop. So that'll be a 6am wake up call. Ah well, no different to most Sunday's in the last 12 weeks or so I suppose! What's in the "start process" area? Just space to warm up, presumably toilets? |

I’m assuming it’s a load of bollocks and will rock up to the start area fashionably late as always. But I won’t be using the bag drop, just chucking away a water bottle and bin liner or whatever (weather dependent) at the start. Usually my wife has been there to take my spare kit but I’m solo this year. |

Maybe I should try that. I'm a bit too much of a rules follower (selectively, my wife will say). All part of the experience I guess! |
