Whilst the 2021 race is only just over and done with, it's already less than 6-months to the 2022 race, and after a little cajoling on the 2021 race thread, here is the 2022 race thread.
Apparently "General Entries end Wednesday" (although, as previously, I suspect all that means is entries after Wednesday will cost more)
Anyway, chat away... any questions ask away... any recommendations we're happy to hear them... let us know how your training is/isn't going... or feel free to lurk until the end of March and then share your hourly weather forecast watching worries...

Sushi.
I'm not doing it in '22.
Did enjoy yesterday and may well be persuaded to shout abuse/encouragement at Altincham.

Are they planning the staggered start and same athletes village again?
I thought it was really well organised but didn't like that the 1/2 went first meaning some mara runners didn't set off till 12 and then were close to the 6 hr cut off.
I was still tgerewaiting for a friend and they were cold and miserable with long journeys home.
Seemed the wrong way round to me.

Oh, I enjoy this, and would be tempted, but I'm secretly hoping travel opens up again by Spring.

Sushi - the full and half marathon were only on the same day because the full was moved (due to COVID) from it's usual April slot to October; it's back to normal next year, so there won't be the complication of the two races on the same day. That said, the organisers' wanted to keep the half and marathon runners separate on the course (again due to concerns re: COVID), so given the two routes the only option was to set off the half first.
They introduced staggered starts in 2019, but not quite to the extent we had them this year, so I expect they'll happen again next year, but with a return to the normal 9am start (of the first wave).

Sushi.
OK. I get why both same day then but given how sardine like the start areas were then the covid reason doesn't hold well.
It was also the excuse for no goodie bags apparently. Other places giving those too.
I did enjoy the event and apart from the start was well organised. I may do it again at some point but not next Yr.
