Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I take one every 25 minutes or so throughout the marathon so can't rely on the sporadic gel stations. I might not need to do that, of course, but it's done me no harm in the past! I work on the basis that my stomach works best earlier on so if I want the glucose to get to the muscles topping up early and often is better than leaving it late in the day and risk the gel just sitting there un-processed in my stomach.

Mr. Grumpy
Same here. Start taking them early, and at pre-determined times/distances.

I'm banking this weather already bbc.co.uk

12degC, light cloud and gentle breeze. What could possibly go wrong.

Yeah it looks like standard Mancs Mara weather to me :-) Might prefer a touch chillier and of course the more the wind dies down the better.

Relieved to see the forecast is still for a significant cooling before next Sunday! Was a bit scorchio even at 9am for my last semi-long run.

Yep, I picked a long sleeve top yesterday for a 6:50am start and was sweating cobs in the full sun at 8:30. Don't want that next weekend!

COVID looks to have robbed me of my supporters, indirectly, for Sunday, but if that's as close as it gets to impacting race day I'll take that. Properly looking forward to this now.

Yeah that’s a good point. Maybe I should go into purdah for the week.
