Is there a bad mosquito ( or similar ) problem at that time of year ?

Yes I just noticed that! Mosquitoes from the lake? It was frozen over when we visited before :)

I noticed there's something called 'The Lava Run' on the site... Could you shed some light on what this is ITG? I couldn't work it out.

Lava run is just a trail run the evening before. About 7k I think.

I'm not sure if this is the one I was nervous about then won. I did win it by virtue of being the only competitor. You might be thinking of the jökulsárhlaup that I was nervous about then came 2nd (in the baby 13k run; the fast girls ran the 22k or 32k runs).

I had to run the half one year with the mosquito net on and off - but that is me in one of the photos (finish with my friend in a flourish - no nets at the top of the hill!)
