There is a thing called the Banana Equivalent Dose, used to put the dose of radiation from something like an X-ray into context. I'm not sure of the exact dose from the neck CT I had after a car crash, but it must have been around 10,000 bananas, probably about what I've eaten in the last 30 years. The X-ray I had when I smashed my shoulder up in January would have been more like 10 bananas. xkcd.com
