For anyone thinking of voting for that revolting steak americain thing, this is an excerpt from my blog of April 2015 when me and youngest (E, then aged 16) went on a cycle expedition through the Netherlands and Belgium: "The hotel was in Koksijde, or rather Koksijde an Zee. The Koksijde conurbation is enormous. E’s Garmin – set to find the hotel – died just as we got to K-a-Z. Fortunately by a bit of aimless wandering, we found it. It was a bit posh, especially in terms of what I wanted for food. But we were tired and didn’t want to go a-wander. The restaurant was a bit Nouvelle with odd shaped plates. I ordered grilled salmon. It looked absolutely gorgeous when it arrived. E ordered Beef Americain thinking it was a nice wedge of meat. When it arrived it was in fact, cold, uncooked minced beef, mashed up with a vinaigrette and served as a sort of cold patty. We swapped meals. Goodbye salmon! A giant flagon of Belgian beer helped wash down this strange concoction. It was alright I suppose when you also had a mouthful of chips. And washed it down with a massive flagon of beer. Once the shuddering stopped I can almost say I enjoyed it. Almost." |

Brilliant, McG. I assume I've had steak tartare at some point. I also assume I was with people trying to impress me and I pretended to like it. I also also assume I didn't like it at all.

The next day was even more hellish. We were supposed to cycle on the Calais but had the worst possible weather. We ended up finding the last hotel room in the only open hotel in Gravelines and living off sugar cubes and our souvenir stroopwaffels fetcheveryone.com/blog/137/2015/4#blog332580 |

If you’d put raw toad as the third option in game 6 I’d have voted for it.

Back to bananas. Didn't I hear on QI sometime that bananas are slightly radioactive?

I'm voting for endives, it's as Belgian as food gets and it reminds me of Roger's wah wah rabbits
