The 3:15 has been for a while for the women's championship start qualification. they took the men's time down from sub 2:45 to sub 2:40 last year, and I just saw that the women's time was also reduced by a whole minute to actually be sub 3:14 now!!!

The F18-39 time has remained at sub 3:45 for many years, though they tweaked the other age groups by random minutes here and there. The mens GFA times are all at round numbers of 5 minute increments.

There used to be hardly any women on the red FGFA start, I had mostly thought it was because they tended to be on the Champs start.

The Green GFA start did have more women and maybe thats where the ladies ended up although I was never quite sure what the criteria for GFA and FGFA were

It's probably already been said in the 100+ posts I've skipped, but the irony to me was the "covid safe" bag drop ended up with hundreds of people crammed together inside queuing to drop their bags off in a confined space rather than being outside handing them over to the trucks.

It also worked against those don by themselves. One runner I know had to put on their race kit before the expo and live in it until they got their drop bag back, binning toiletries and anything they needed overnight.

35833 finishers for the in person event, which is less than a normal year. Would have had approaching 50k registered, 45k start and 40k finish the years up until 2019 give or take a few thousand.

Think I saw mention of 22k in the virtual on a VMLM Facebook or Twitter post earlier today but can't find it now.

Just checked out the results for the last in person person to cross the line and it gave them place 35833 for the masses and 54019 for the virtual. Now there will have been more people taking over 8:46 in the virtual with up to 24 hours to play with, but probably not a massive number more.

The slowest man in the virtual took 23:15 and I imagine they were running just over a mile every hour on the hour from midnight until 23:15. That would take an unheard-of amount of self-discipline from me.

Fragile Do Not Bend
Going by posts I’ve seen on Facebook there will be a lot of virtual results they’ll have to add manually due to app failures.

I'm not a member of a club so run from the FGFA rather than the Champs start but there aren't many women there usually.

There was a lady next to me in the changing tent who had been given the wrong second medal - she got the one for completing all the majors rather than the age group one.

Brunski, I was one of those slow runners in front of you, sorry about that! F40-44 with a realistically predicted 3:45 but I was put in wave 1 anyway. It's not just bad for the faster runners starting behind, it's awful for the slower runners in front who constantly feel like they are in the way and end up getting swept along far faster than they want to go. I had assumed that the faster runners were starting from green and yellow - if I'd known you were all behind me I would've put myself down a wave or two... I don't understand why they grouped the waves by age not time.
