Nice sentiment larkim. Thanks.

Personally it was good, I enjoyed it for what it was and got to appreciate it doing something different (not that I've done so many marathons that they're all the same now!)

Don't want to do another one though. Please, please, please world, can we have real events in 2021? 🤞

I enjoyed it more than I thought possible. I can't imagine running a GFA time in a solo effort, but it was a very relaxed experience with just me and the distance and fantastic mobile support.

Yes Roberto! I think virtual was much tougher.

One thing on the app... we were in a low/no mobile coverage zone but managed to connect watches. 2 of us have fenix 6 and in minutes my friends then mine had an incident detection and my run cancelled & saved them run. Friends paused but carried on.

We then got signal and within 0.1m but we all got different details. My marathon stopped 25.2m as expected but my friends had between 1&1.5m more to do. Our Garmins alll fad separate 1m. reasons t

So, a member of our club committee has done the virtual marathon the day after he returned from a Greek holiday and was supposed to be in quarantine. I thought he was being modest in missing himself off the results so congratulated him, cue a private message saying why he hasn't publicised his results.

It is there in black and white on the vlm site it is hardly private. I've kept calm and told him I'm disappointed and I'm not taking my post down but he is free to delete it.

24 laps in 24 hours finally finished. Probably the most mental thing I have ever done. Adding to the 'that bloody app' chorus - it played the congratulatory message in error at 26 miles at the end of my 22nd lap and I thought I'd finished, looked at the app and realised I hadn't, dashed out again to get those last metres in, succeeded, and promptly tripped over a kerb, grazing my hands and knees and smashing my phone screen! Probably partly to do with sleep deprivation but I was pretty annoyed at the time :) At least it actually worked until the end, which is more than it seems to have done for other people!

Dragged my wounded pride round for a couple of victory laps to complete my 24 hour challenge with 29.44 miles run today in total. I will be sleeping very soon, having not done so in 37 hours now.

Well done Spideog.

I'm sure they'll verify your results DS and sparkle.

Some interesting results - I usually place in my age cat at London and whilst I was much slower than usual I'm currently 29th - Tim is the fourth FV50-55...........

That's very annoying bonners - hope he thinks it's worth the fine (which I doubt very much he'll get).

@lmh he has deleted my post, at the end of the day it is his choice what to do, I've just registered my disappointment that as a committee member and secretary he should really obey the rules. I'm certainly not going to argue with him, if he feels he has done the right thing that is up to him.

Anyway, enough of that, I've been spending a bit of time reading some of the fabulous blogs on here about people's experiences yesterday, some really uplifting stories.
