Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Let's talk about inaugural parkruns after they've happened.

"Swindon 2" will be just a shorthand, with the official name to be confirmed. From the link you gave, I'd very much doubt that it will be at Lyneham, that sounds very early days in the process.

parkrun Towers tend to be very secret squirrel about inaugurals, but there are ways to find out.

And welcome to Fetch, Tomahawk Mike :-). Check back into the thread in a couple of weeks, if not before ;-).

parkrun Norway has confirmed that their first course will be at Frogner Park in Oslo. If you look it up on Google Earth you will find that it is sometimes called Vigeland Park because of the Vigeland Sculptures in the park.

The Merthyr course is very different from the Cyfarthfa Castle option suggested at one point. That could have been one of the hilliest in the country. This version, however, is mostly flat tarmac.

Pressure at York? Maybe it's because I'm used to Cambridge, but it seemed to me that York copes easily with 600+ runners. A little congestion at the start, but nothing major, and it's a very fast course on flat tarmac with no real corners or sharp bends. I guess the issue is that the event can only take place when the racecourse isn't in use for horse racing.

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
