In fairness 30 is quite a lot to be getting off the ground if there isn't much to begin with. Once they have these 30 it can grow further.

It's not that there is only 30 possible sites for a parkrun in Canada. The map shows where there may be new parkruns in the not too distant future as there is someone at those locations actively attempting to start one.

OK - that's a different angle. I imagine once a few of these get off the ground, that will fuel enthusiasm for more to be set up as word spreads and more people experience them directly or indirectly.

Expecting to fill gaps on a Canadian map is a bit like wondering why we have so many parkrun free places in northern and western Scotland. Though parkrun Canada could boost numbers with special rules for the participation of moose.

There would of course be a strictly enforced "one moose per runner" rule.

A propos, I was speaking to someone on Saturday who had run Tring, and reported that, as well as many hills, Tring also has a "cow marshal". The Canadians could have something similar cow panda

Yes, that's right, Marvin, the potential parkrun sites in Canada are places where people have shown an interest in setting one up. It will be interesting to see how many of them actually happen. I am sure Canada will have a lot more than 20 events in a few years time if parkrun becomes popular out there. I like the idea of one moose per runner! I wonder what the policy on grizzly bears will be!

There may be an inaugural parkrun happening near you. Best to check with the local parkrun volunteers to see if they want you to know about it or not.

Otherwise there are plenty of already established parkruns to go to in the UK and abroad, see: parkrun.org.uk
