My Ron Hill tracksters are coming for a lap of the Lakes. I rarely run in longs and they are what I have

I will in longs for a number reasons, primary hopeful anti-tick and secondary warmth at night when it is cold and I'm moving slow.

Iβve had a few ticks on the North Downs. I was on a work call when I noticed one on my leg. I thought it was dirt but it didnβt brush off and wiggled a bit. I ended the call immediately and got the tweezers out. Fortunately it hadnβt got fully stuck in and came out cleanly

The first tick I ever picked up was on Coniston trail race years ago, Kinky moved at speed to remove it from my leg with a pair of tweezer when I worked out what it was and realised Iβd made it stop wrigglingβ¦β¦ fortunately it was quite small and came out cleanly too.

I've had two ticks, both at top of sock level and both from walking locally. The dog had a few - again all local, none from various lakes trips. The Muntjack around here must be riddled with them. I have lots of longs - nettle protection

I picked up a tick somewhere on the first half of the 100 a few years ago. The race doctor wasn't around so a passing vet removed it for me
