Use the tourist method, walk the ups and the levels and lightly jog the down hills.

The 50 is very doable for anyone who's vaguely fit as long as they have some common sense, decent waterproofs and the willpower to continue when it gets hard work.

and no broken toes!
I think I may have had a larger than normal glass of wine last night - I don't remember actually letting myself think the idea - let alone post it!

Is it unwise to plan to use the same shoes I wore for the DE99 for the UTLD100? Or should I buy new and break in between now and then?

Rosehip, they have done about 160-170 miles. I only intend on wearing them once more, the recce from Pooley Bridge to Ambleside. So they will have around 200 miles on the day. They look in amazing condition. The last ten miles of the DE99 gave them a good clear. To be fair, bar the fact they smell, they could almost pass for new shoes.

Wear them. Good comfortable shoes with a โtrack recordโ are invaluable

hmm, not an expert, but I'd wear them
- even a new pair supposedly exactly the same isn't always!

if you recce PB to Ambleside - how do you get back? or is this one of the arranged ones?
