I’d wear them. Should be nicely broken in now. Mine will probably have done about 600 miles on the start line.
(Partly because I can’t afford a new pair :))

How’s everyone getting along now with training?
I’m doing significantly better than the last time I posted, I just need to keep it going for 3 more months.

Just read your blog and had a peek at your training, looks like you're on course to absolutely smash it, Dave. Well done.
After completing my first 100-miler in March my confidence has risen. Training going well, and although I'm losing endurance pace, I'm gaining stamina. I seem to be able to keep moving almost forever albeit at a slow pace, but slow pace is what is required.

Has everyone been reading the ever so slightly tongue in cheek weekly emails from the organisers? A very entertaining way of getting a serious point across.
The past 2 times I’ve completed this I’ve lost a big toe nail. 3 days of specific training on the moors above the Calder Valley and I’ve started getting a bit of ‘lift’ on the last toe nail that I lost. Something to do with bettering toes on rocky ground.

Hi Dave! I did spot something about a spork in one of those emails. I have to choose between my red one and my orange one. Orange is sooo last year, so it might have to be red. These small race decisions seem insignificant, but can end up swinging your race sometimes.
On the bright side, I'll be losing one of my big toe-nails due to last weekend's Fling, so that'll be one less thing to worry about at the end of July.

During an Ultra I can't recall ever needing a spoon/fork/spork.
But if it's on the list

The bruisings gone a bit, but I altered my gait slightly on this mornings long run to try and not have the toe bashing. The result was no worse bruising but a nicely blistered toe!

FR, how you going to eat your cold pasta and tomato soup or your beef stew without a spork?
