I'll be back next year, having to shoehorn it into a very busy schedule though.
Reckon with a bit of training there's a sub28 in that race for me.

That would be some time Ogee. Top 23 this year in fact. Good luck :-)

sub 28 would be hugely impressive. I was on track for 32 until my knee gave way. I'd be very happy with that time next year.

I have decided I am not in. I would have loved an attempt at the 100, but its just not going to happen next year.

I am sticking to races that I can do without overnighting next year, and then come back for a stab in 2015?

Just looking at what I did training wise & what I did on the day. I can easily shave off 6-7hrs & then just need to be able to run downhill a little to achieve it.
He who dares etc etc ;-)

DT/Stef ~ Aside from weather issues which would you rate the hardest, if that is possible, between BG and L100? I walked BG Leg 1 yesterday and still can't comprehend the enormity of the whole thing! Perhaps I've still got a bit of L50 in the legs and also on the back of a chesty cough but I found the back of Skiddaw to Blencathra a bit of a slog! Also couldn't see a thing on Blencathra so didn't brave Halls Fell Ridge but came down the longer route of Blease Fell instead.

I think a 36 to 40 hour 100 would be considerably harder than a 23 to 24 hour BG. However, I think you need to be fitter / stronger to do a BG than to finish the 100, if that makes sense. The 100 was a mental challenge and an utter slog-fest for me. I did a 4 mile race the wednesday after my BG and was a minute or so off my best time the event. I'm still in bits after the 100. My right foot is a right mess still :-(

this question has knocked back and forth for a while. I'm in the 100 camp based on my knowledge of me both but never having finished either ! I just don't see how you Baan ignore the extra 40 M of tough terrain of utld. that said I know very strong runners who have finished utld 100 and can't get under 24 hour for BGR . on the other hand I know lots of BGR ers who can't even contemplate utld never mind finish it . basically they are both tough but different kettles of fish .

it will be interesting how I as a poor and slow runner get on with my BGR attempt .
