ironically I would have loved some cheat sticks! They may have let me descend with a leg not working! If I'd had any mental capacity left I'd have borrowed some from the previous bus of Ambleside dropouts and carried on. But the thought never made the surface.

I liked the bracken, it made the falling over (which was a distinct feature of my running) much softer.

I'm just amazed I managed to run through so much bracken without picking up any ticks (at least any that I've found yet!). Normally I'm a magnet for the little blighters.

Aye that bracken was pretty awful! Finally made my way through it & was running along the trail when a couple of runners joined us from the side & asked if we'd come down the proper path!? Said "F*ck knows, I just headed downhill"
Was there supposed to be a proper pathway through it all?

yes, there is, although it was a lot more overgrown than a month ago when we recce'd it.

I refused a Lakeland 100 shirt as felt I didn't deserve it as didn't finish, but the question is will any of the other retirees wear the buff that was handed out at the start?

I didn't get a t-shirt, but yes, I'll use the buff. Everyone taking part got one no matter how they got on.
