Yeah definitely need to keep it in there. I'm doing once a week now due to basketball but that means it's easy for me to go awhile without doing it if I miss a couple of sessions.
How do you organise your racing Sharkie? Do you have blocks?

What do you mean 'organise'? (Sorry might be being dim. Or tired or something!)

I mean do you do three weeks racing plus training, then have some weeks without racing, etc.

Ah, got you.
Nope its not organised at all! I just do all the 5 x SAL (Southern Athletics League) and 4 x Southern Vets league that there are - when they are. Plus Rosenheim League races if I'm already in London and not too knackered or upset.
There are few enough races in the season - and at my level I can't just target one or two. I don't do many, if any Opens.

Fair enough, understand the lack of events. We have 5 Tipton opens and 4 league matches so not many local opportunities here either.

I went to my pt session on Monday but I've now decided that his sessions are too static for me so I have now stopped going to him. I quite enjoyed the weight lifting but I need things mixing up a bit to keep me on my toes and didn't feel this was really benefiting me in the long run. I have another pt to contact tomorrow so I'll see what that brings.

Hope that goes well, Alpenrose We had similar with our trainer, but a friend and I now have a joint conditioning session with him as well so that mixes it up a bit more.
Last night was my first session after holidays - good back squats at the moment (hit the 100kg before hols) so more reps at 80%, OHP remains very patchy!

The circuit (speedier) approach in this programme seems to suit me - I do feel stronger. Bizarrely I find the shoulder shrugs quite hard to do correctly, as I get tired the temptation is to lift the weights with my arms as well.

AL - the year I did circuits once a week (involving burpees, step ups and the like) was the year I got a whole er, bunch, of PeeBs. The dynamic nature of circuit training is particularly beneficial to speedy stuff I think.
And I remain convinced that my current dip in form is partly down to coming off the weights a bit too much.
I haven't 'quite' resolved that yet. It's kindof tricky trying to fit in the technical stuff for my other events as well.
Perhaps next year when I am 90% retired rather than 80%!
