Hi all,
I've not knitted or done anything craft-y for years, although I used to be able to do a bit of most things.
I think I might take up knitting again, so you might find me hanging around here a bit in the future. First I need to get some needles and yarn and patterns - not a clue where to even start! Maybe some hats and mittens for my grandson would be a good place to begin.

Use ravelry for patterns - there's LOADS of free ones on there, which you can search through.

I started by buying a magazine which had yarn and needles with it and then I fell totally to the dark side. Beware these people on here a bad for you!

PaulaMc Rolls & Rems in Lewisham have needles. Yarn too but it's all very uninspiring acrylic.

Rolls & Rems - wow, that brings back memories of doing needlework at school and going there for bits and pieces!

They do have a brilliant selection of fabric. And extremely grumpy staff. I haven't found a good yarn shop anywhere round here.

Whereas online... is a treasure trove of lovely yarns and new techniques and designer needles (I had never even heard of sock rockets, and now I own 4 pairs)... and all just a few clicks away.
