I've been out for 6 weeks with a knee injury and there's no way I'm going to run 53 miles a month from now. Gently back into training for me, and I'll do it justice another year.

PP, I'm not doing Fling this year, but what I'd say is a training lay off shouldn't stop you doing the Fling. If you are undertrained, you can still do it, but just take it slow and easy and don't expect to do your best time. However, if you are still injured and risking doing yourself more injury, then I wouldn't train long nor race. No point in doing yourself long term damage.

Davie, sorry to hear you'll be out. Hope your knee is fully recovered. :-) G

HappyG,
Cheers for your thoughts, I appreciate it. Things looking good as I write, managed a 21 mile run today and hoping to get another low double figure run before the end of the week.
Touch wood the injury seems to be behaving with no flare ups, just normal aches after a long run. A bit more confident than I was this time last week!
Thanks again :-)

And welcome to the Fetch forum by the way. Where are our manners?!

If you are able to run without injury and therefore it's just about being on the start line a bit undertrained, then I'd say just enjoy the day. It's a fab race, great start, amazing to see 600 runners in a car park at 5am and their supporters, great chat en route, lovely scenery, terrific support at the checkpoints and the most amazing finish are of any race I've been to (including London Marathon!)

Have a great day. Probably see you there. Say hi if you see a bloke supporting in a Fetch top! :-) G

I'll be helping out again, so will provide lots of smiles and gentle kicks up the bum where needed. Feel free to return the favour at any of the races I'm running later this year! :D

Please make any physical contact gentle, I'm sure I'll be feeling fragile after a while!

You'll be fine!! And you'll forget any pain when you see the red carpet and finish line :) :) Good luck anyway!

I am out this year (again!) due to injury. I have a Premier Inn room booked on Saurday night in Mingavie if anybody is still requiring accomodation?

57.5 Degrees of Pain
How is everyone's taper going? I relaxed in the fine weather by knocking out a 6k warmup, parkrun PB and 14+ miles on trail and road. Was not supposed to be quite that long but my sense of direction and the geography of the Clyde valley is a bit dodgy! Will be relaxing the rest of the week, honest.
