Hi all. First post after lurking about for a long time. I'm signed up for this as my first foray beyond marathon distance. Been nursing a slight injury for a bit and so I had been reluctant about booking a hotel. Seem to be on the mend now but short of staying a 3 day camel trek away it now looks like I'll be heading back to Milngavie for my car after the run. I vaguely recall there being a bus afterwards but can't find any information on it. Can anybody give me an idea of when this goes? I'm not targeting any time but imagining I'll be 12 hours+ at the least.

Welcome Kenny - great race for your first ultra.

There are buses back, you have to book (can't remember cost, very reasonable, I'm sure). There are multiple at convenient times right up to cut off - 10, 12, 14. Or maybe every hour even, I can't remember. Have a look on Fling Race website, or in the info email which will be coming out soon. Best of luck with the race. :-) G

Just checked. You were supposed to book at time of entry, but I added mine on after, which the very flexible Johnny Fling permitted.

Ok, cheers. I'll contact John to see if I can add on the bus. Further question - I don't really see myself as having managed to do more than 30-35 miles in a single run prior to the event. Does it seem ridiculously hopeful to expect to add on another 18-23 miles on the day? I'm hopeful that a combination of willpower, adrenalin and....walking can see me through that!

Nope. I don't think I did over 30 ish and I did OK. I didn't do great though. And it was hard. But you can't train 50 miles for a 50 mile race, same as you don't train 26 miles for a marathon. You'll be fine. :-) G

ps Kenny thats more than enough. Just make sure you reign it in for first 20miles. come off Conic feeling fresh rather than trashed and you'll have the energy forlochside then the rollercoaster 6 miles from end
