Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

, do you have a Citizens Advice Bureau locally, and if so see if they have a Connect For Health team.

If so, they will be able to help you apply, appeal and have access to a lot of other help.
If you like, PM me your local area, I can find out if there's a C4H near you (Mr Carp is part of our local team).

Carp, sadly, I have yet to get through to the Hereford CAB... It has been weeks, I have all but given up getting any help from them...

I left my number for a call back as suggested after I failed getting through many times. They have very restrictive opening hours and I cannot drive right now so getting to Hereford is not easy as no public transport and a 50 mile round trip...

I had a look around to see what I could get while I had treatment. The only thing of benefit to me was the five-year NHS prescription exemption.

What Phil refers to is a 5 year prescription exemption. Which isn't exactly of use if you don't have any prescription medicine!

I have yet to start chemo though so I don't know??? Maybe you do have to buy it first? I thought they'd just administer it but what do I know? This, like the benefit system, is all pretty alien to me!

What I have noticed is that apparently it is really unusual to not take any prescription or over the counter meds??? In hospital they kept trying to give me omeprazole!!! No idea why. They kept insisting I needed to take them. I wasn't even allowed home without them and iron shavings! While using both at the same time is contra-indicated too 🙄🙄🙄

About This Thread

Maintained by
So today I got a letter from the Job Centre after my ESA application.
I am really very ill with metastasised ovarian cancer. Too ill to start chemo on Tuesday.
However, they think I am fit for work. I can apparently work in a garden centre. If I don't I have to come in weekly for job applications and CV coaching.
I told them I run my own business and if I could, I would work in that.
I told them I cannot drive.
I verified they know where I live.
I have to take the bus. It is a 7 mile ...
