lums, the belper 30km took me just over an hour longer than the stmaford 30km so that goes to show how hard it was!!! mindyou, I dindt push myself as hard today, av HR was 72% but for stamford I think it was 79%. I did lots of walking up hill and also on the steep downhill due to it being slippy. also stopped 4 times at checkpoints for a few mins so that all helped to bring HR down

thats a good pace for that HR lums, looks like that could be your new MP if there isnt too much drift.

Did a double again yesterday. Legs really tierd first thing and not happy about running after the belper effort.

in the eve I ran to body pump the long way and back the short way. My pace was similar to last week but a lower HR on the way then on the way back faster pace and faster HR. Expect it was cooler this week. Was expecting to be really slow after last weeks hard week. (did 55 miles whcih is a record for me)

I didn't run at all yesterday but will be doing intervals tonight with the club.

Good work Lums but remember to slow down a bit when you are doing longer runs! :-)

Hellen, don't you ever rest? :-)

Recovery run for me today after my big weekend.

5 miles, 9:52, 64%

It's a step back week this week so no really big runs. Will try to push to 70% (!) for tomorrow's 6 miles if my legs feel up to it, but they were very heavy this morning.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
