John There are those that don't use %WHR in structuring their training, and who would argue that the longer runs should be around 65%MHR!!! There are some VERY quick runners who would advocate *that* approach, but the significant majority of people in that camp are not! Personally I think that it's horses for courses. You have a structure that works for you, and you are continuing to see improvement, and I think that the added bonus of running with the club will bring that process on even more so!
And yes - your HR gives an indication of the effort and intensity for any particular run, given all the variables that can affect it!

I have to try something, my Gran could beat me in races at the minute and she's been dead for six years! I have several monitors that I have bought over the years that just sit and collect dust so I may as well start using them properly.

Mudskipper - apologies if you thought you'd been ignored - It wasn't intentional.

Only joking! I am having difficulty finding a wborking heart rate. My heart rate climbs really quickly when I start running and then sits at approx 20 BPM over what should be an easy pace rate yet it still feels really easy. Anybody got any ideas?
