I had the same issues with static getting in the way of my old Coospo one as I did with the Garmin, and the HR data was accurate on both devices. Not sure I can offer more than that though.

I may have an old Coospo in a drawer somewhere; I'll happily post it on if I can find it if you want to PM me your address?

I've had 2 of the newer Garmin Run straps, IMHO they're rubbish. Once you've had to change the battery, a fiddly procedure, moisture starts to creep in and as well as eating batteries they eventually stop working. Might explain why when I bought my Forerunner 45, Garmin have me a Garmin Run strap FOC.

I then synced my old rubber 305 strap and never had a problem since.

I've seen the rubber strap on eBay, ยฃ25-30 the last time I looked.

Like Larks I had static on the Garmin Dual. Was good I would say for c85% of runs, just some runs it was way out. Also found that it would take a good mile to mile and half sometimes to get to correct level, would show either way too high or low (depending on its mood)

Whahoo served me well for several years.
Now I use Garmin HR Pro, and itโ€™s nice as well. I canโ€™t remember even once one or the other had ever failed me in any way.

The Garmin Pro is definitely out on price, Bowman. Was the Wahoo model the Tickr? That's only ยฃ39.99 so might be an option.

Larkim, that's a really kind offer. Thank you. I might take you up on that.

Yes, I've found the Tickr reliable, at least for a couple of years or more. I'm on my second one. I did replace the battery in December, whereas with Garmin straps they seemed to die regardless after a couple of years. Tip: I've added the Tickr+current battery-change to my Fetch kit list so that I can see how many hours of exercise it lasts for (so long as I can remember to set it as a used item after each outing).

Thatโ€™s a good idea NordRunner, Iโ€™ll do that next time I change battery.

If I wasn't interested in tracking HRV, I'd probably choose a Polar OH1 or Verity Sense arm strap now. They're supposed to be very accurate and are highly rated by people whose opinion I listen to.

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
