Nice, either steeper or a slightly longer run and a couple more reps. Run until you feel like you couldn't possibly do another one then run another one harder. :-)

I'll try that next week !

I found my medical report but it wasn't much use. The HR test took me to 85% of expected WHR and not to actual MHR. It did give me a VO2 Max reading of about 31.8 which I believe was bad. As I said, I was unfit then :)

If you look at the pics on my profile you can see the lactate and HR graph for my test. You can see the lactate levels increase quite nicely :-) My Max HR is 190 by the way, so must try harder next time. :-)

good to see we are finally back on topic and Mr Huff has gone off in a huff. I was also interested in that testing stuff, they do it at loughborough uni, I enquired about it but never got around do it, it was about 150 I think and involved blood samples, I hate needles so didnt rush into anything but have just remembered now that you are all talking about it.

Hellen,

I can think of a better use of 150 dollars, as it pertains to improving HR and performances.

Oh, are you an American then? That would explain a lot.

Hey, less anti-American chat. Generally, I've found Americans to be kind, generous and enthusiastic. I'm a Scot by the way.

On the HR front, I am on week 2 of Hadd and tonight was a nifty 7 miler at LT 142-147. Averaged 144 and felt a million of your US Dollars.

About This Thread

Maintained by Elderberry
Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
