Dtd and TPH, I am just under 10 weeks out from my Marathon and have now introduced a Tuesday interval session. Everything else in my training is Hadd. lots of low HR with a stretch of sub LT or mp running in one of the other runs per week. It’s just based on personal past experience that a few weeks with a faster session each week gets me into better shape than pure Hadd.

After a cut back week, which was even more cut back due to man flu, I did a sub lt on the mill tonight, upping to 85%,143 max. Averaged 8 min miles, which is quite good for me, considering my hopes for MP is 7:30 @152? I might swap my Friday sub LT for a HMP parkrun on Saturday, ahead of Staverton 10, the week after, which is in turn a try out for Wokingham half in Feb. Going from nothing faster than 8 min miles, to 7s at Staverton might be interesting.

Thanks puzzler and interesting to note that a) some faster sessions give you a bit of sharpening and b) only one interval session is what you need, with the rest Hadd inc some sub LT. More restrained than I at the moment.

I must admit I've fallen off the Hadd wagon.
I was pretty good for 6 weeks from the start of December to mid January, but then I've been reading too much and ended up adopting bits from Daniels' Running formula, looking at blocks of marathon pace within my long runs, etc.
What I'm keeping are the 60 minute plus easy paced runs (sub70/75%) and trying to train once a week at just under my LT.
I'll give it another bash next Winter as think it's really helped me build a base that I can layer some of the harder sessions ontop of.
Feeling good for London marathon.

Brunski, you’re in great shape. My question would be what are you doing in your training for London to avoid a repetition of the last six miles in October?

Cheers Puzzer, yeah feeling good. The main changes I'm looking to implement are: - More mileage (tick so far) - More long runs (again, had a couple 18-20 already and going to have 5/6 more) - Raising the LT - introducing a tempo run each week 6 last week, 7 this, want to get to 10 miles before HM. - Marathon pace blocks during or at the end of long runs. - Less parkruns - was a big distracted by running too many at the expense of quality weekend long runs. - if doing intervals trying to keep them long/marathon focussed.
On top of that I know my LT better and will run a few shades below that. I'm hoping to keep HR below 143 (my threshold is 149) until 20 miles, that means picking a marathon pace that refects this. im hoping to tune in to this in the final weeks, I also have a HM 4 weeks out that will also helpnguide pacing.
RE MP - Thoughts right now are that a pace i can hold for 10 miles without drift at say 140-142 should be a pace i can hold for 20 miles under 143, will trst that out nearer the time.

Thanks for waking the group up again Brunski and lovely to see how well you are doing even though not very Hadd base phase perhaps.
I am not doing so well. After recovery from my knee probs that knocked me back a bit prior to Christmas and starting to mileage and some more work runs going in Jan I suffered a severe bout of gastroenteritis which took out a week (off most things never mind running). I am back on it again now and building up again, but weeks of 60-70k have dropped and I am now 30-40k. Last weekend I ran a very muddy, muddy boots 10k and it destroyed me with nearly 3 mins slower than anticipated (@ 45:51) - I can put a min down to the extra mud but the rest down to recovery from illness I hope. Anyway, onwards and upwards - although breaking 40 for 10k seems a way off at the moment.

Hello hadd team. I'm back again!
"Had" to take a break end of last year when a non-running foot injury stopped me training. Then as I made a comeback I bruised my ribs falling during a trail race I was taking part in for a bi of "fun". Cost me 3rd place as well but on the bright side I actualy thought I'd broken the at the time, so recovery was quiker than I was expecting. And then got floored by a heavy dose of man flu straight after which gave me a lovely zero week to start the year. So that's been great.
Anyway, took the opportunity whilst completely unfit a few weeks back to re-evaluate my maxHR and have since been running to that and making decent progress.
I've built up over last few weeks and looks like I'll break 70mpw this week. My sub LT work is approx 81% MHR and giving me low 7s wit the odd sub 7 mile as of tonight. I might give it another week before I push on to 82%.
Good to be running again though, and I've entered Stirling Marathon to give me something to get in shape for.

Hi Daviec I think your foot injury is sorted if it can cope with 70mpw! Good to see you are enjoying your running.

Ended up missing Sunday/Monday runs due to travel. Funny how feels like fitness must be lost forever, lol. Straight back into LT run today when I get out.
