There’s an admin fee of £10 but thereafter you don’t have to pay again (unlike Yorkshire marathon where you do) so I guess it’s quite good in that way. As long as the lack of teeshirt isn’t a deal breaker ( ;-) ) I’d go for it.

larks - unless they've changed it from previously, the deferral/transfer policy is a lot better than some (e.g. VLM) races, because before end of Jan you pay £10 to defer to the following year but (unlike VLM) don't have to pay a second entry fee for the deferred place. I did this in 2013, and it's the only year I've missed since the race returned.

Jen - further to my post above, it was this page ( manchesterhalfmarathon.com ) that says, in relation to the HM route, "The local emergency services have requested we amend our route slightly to allow them to easily access the local community. We’re happy to help with this but it means more research and work on road closures through Chorlton" so I'd guess there's got to be a good chance that Chorlton will be included in the route for the full.

Oh good! The roads round me were completely encircled by the route so it was a problem. It was the first time for residents in Chorlton and they hadn’t read the leaflet/seen the road closure signs/heard anything about it etc etc. People were staggeringly rude and the police had to be called for one incident so it needs looking at. There must be an escape route or it’ll be the same in April.

Jen, I'm guessing you are in "Area 11" on this map manchesterhalfmarathon.com ?

Given, the exit route from this area was via the race route at about Mile 2.5, I am not sure why the organisers needed 2.5hrs to clear the route before reopening the road? Even allowing 45mins for everybody to cross the start line, surely even the slowest runners will be clear well within 90mins. So the Exit could have reopended at 10:30 not 11:30!

Unfortunately, with the 3-mile loop into the City Centre first, I can only imagine the Exit route via tha A56 will be closed for even longer, but hopefully the exit route via Edge Lane and/or Wilbraham Road can be kept open longer!

Well done Larks :)

Yes it was area 11. I was literally next to the 11 mile marker (complete with shocking spelling mistake) and wasn’t allowed to let anyone out onto Edge Lane until 1.15. It was fairly stressful.

I tried to send people out of the area to Greatstone Road and the A56 after 11.30 but they came back, even more annoyed because they hadn’t been able to get past the Quadrant.
